A letter to my daughter on her 5th birthday

Today is my baby girl’s 5th birthday, today you turned 5 years old…I can’t believe how fast the years have gone, it feels like it was only yesterday that I found out I was pregnant with you.

As I type this I can already feel a lump in my throat, so I can tell it’s going to an emotional post.

This time 5 years ago I was in immense pain as you were on your way! You were ready to meet mummy and daddy 4 days early. Yay!

On Tuesday February 5th 2013 at 3.36pm you made your entrance, and just like that life would never be the same again. My beautiful baby girl, weighing 7lb2oz, I can’t even begin to express the joy I felt, a new type of love I had never experienced. You were and still are my first true love.

There has not been a dull moment over the last five years,  you continue to test and push me to be a better person. Everything I’m doing is for you and your baby sister; mummy loves you both so much.

Watching how well you have taken to your role of big sister, really makes me smile and I love the bond the two of you have. Even if I do have to shout at you sometimes, I wouldn’t change you for the world.

You achieved your biggest milestone of starting school this September; mummy was so worried about the idea of her baby girl starting big school. The transition was actually a really easy one, for you anyway and you have settled in really well. Mummy on the other hand, is still getting used to it.

I love you coming home and telling me about your day, even if I have to bribe you sometimes. You’ve come a long way with your reading, I was so excited and proud when you read me your first full story.

You have such a big personality and everyone adores you, this was shown by the number of friends that attended your 5th birthday party this weekend.

5th Birthday

Ever since you were little you’ve loved to dance, so it only seemed right to start you at dance class and you have done amazingly well. I was so proud watching your dance performance at Christmas.

You’ve been talking about turning 5 for the past 6 months, so I know in your eyes its a big deal!  I hope this next year is as amazing as the last, as you continue to learn and grow. I’m looking forward to going through more milestones with you, and I will always be here to hold your hand whenever you need me too.

You are mummy’s perfect little girl, and anything you go through we go through together.

Remember no one is you, and that is your power baby girl!!!

Mummy and Daddy will always be here to encourage and guide you on your life journey, we are so proud of you.
